Seiko Taki boasts both Japanese heritage and European style
By:
At the Facefoward we all have a liking for featuring the most sought after models, but then sometimes we need to change direction and feature interesting designers such as Japanese newcomer Seiko Taki. In his first collection, multi-layered clothing provides a constructive look, while each individual item can serve as a wardrobe stable/basic in itself. The somewhat boxy silhouette and top hats push a masculine element onto the collection, while sleek silk pants and a sheer blouse balance the gender swap. How I hate to compare a designer's work to another, but to gain an idea, the collection is very reminiscent of past Yohji Yamamoto collections with a tinge of classic Helmut Lang. Presented in Paris, this designer may be on his way to stardom. Do keep in mind this designer's style is innately European on the level comparable to a few famous and favorite Belgium designers- a big accomplishment for the first collection.
